Coolest how-to site for beginners...

OK, I was watching the Rueters Technology Week videos and it showed this new website for learning how to play your favorite songs, and some of them by the artist himself! So, the site was cooler than I thought. For beginners it has, what appears to be, some great free tutorials. I downloaded all of the beginners free tutorials and will be checking them out... it even has songs for Banjo!

Cool Tool!!

I thought that this tool could really be used being that we really have no idea where the notes are on the fret board... or at least I don't. I hope that this is something that could be useful.

I was going to post the actual pic don't this blog but they where too big to show all the file so here are the links...

This one is really detailed up till the 12 fret, I think I am going to put white tape under the strings and on the fret board with this information on the tape.

This photo is way too long to post the pic up so here is the link.
Just hole notes up till the 23 fret!!
I have tried putting colored paint on the old strings that where on the guitar and this didn't work at all. 1. the paint came off after 5 min. of playing, 2. it made the strings not have the right sound when played.

hopes this helps!

Has anybody been looking in to lessions?

My first song to learn...

About a month ago I went with Mark to Guitar Center in Arlington and we bought guitars. I got a nylon stringed beginner's guitar. I've always wanted to play guitar since I was a boy but the task of learning always seemed too daunting... now enter in YouTube! I've been taking guitar lessons and here's the one I'm learning right now:

YouTube is an awesome tool for learning and how-to's - I highly recommend it. I hope to start having lessons with a live human soon. I need to work on learning my chords and transitioning. My fret fingers are killing me!

Never thought I'd play...

Well, I just started guitar about a month ago... Previous to this I have never attempted to learn anything about the guitar whatsoever, so, embarrassing as this may be, I'm going to try to document my learning experience for all the others who would like to make an attempt.

My boy got a junior guitar for Christmas 2007 and that is what piqued my interst. A month ago Mark, a friend of mine, and I went to Guitar Center and we both purchased guitars. I purposed to get lessons within the first 30 days but haven't yet. Almost everything I've learned thus far has been from YouTube.com and from a beginner's song book of hymns. I have quite a bit of experience in music already so that has helped me quite a bit with learning guitar. I played alto saxophone for three years in Junior Highschool and two years ago started playing again in my church's orchestra.

Well, for the past month my fret fingers have been hurting but callouses have finally started to form, thank goodness! Having fun...
